HALO Television 3D Model

My HALO Television 3D model is based off a concept art made by Luke Aegis https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RnermX. This project was a challenge to create a hard surface model based on a 2D concept.

The process of creating this model was first set in Maya 3D Software, where I would begin creating the model using methods such as booleans and baking. During this project, a lot of the time went into making the different groups of meshes which were combined at the end. Such groups being the back ports, UK Three-Pin plug and cable which was made using the curve tool and other accents like the screws. After the base model was sculpted with the UV's finished and materials assigned, I took the next step and brought it over to Adobe Substance Painter.

The texturing process consisted of finding the right materials based off of the 2D Concept reference. I figured whether to create the full TV using plastic materials, but I thought making some areas metallic such as the green border would be a better solution to give an armour effect considering the colour scheme was based off of Master Chief. Ultimately, I opted to differentiate the green colours. Another choice I made was to make the TV screen blank to showcase the material glossy shine, instead of porting the HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED main menu screen.

I chose not to add too much wear and tear, as I'd imagine in sitting in a kid's bedroom. However, I would have chosen to add scratches and maybe even battle damage, seeing as it is themed to be set in the Halo universe. Lastly, I added some decals based on the concept art and some based on real life Televisions to give it more of a real visual design.

This is the final outcome of my project. Many thanks to Lucas Aegis for creating the concept. Thank you for checking out my model.
